The rise of science-based formulations and personalized treatments reflects a growing awareness of individual skin needs. To help you navigate these changes, we consulted two leading experts in the field: Dr. Karuna Malhotra (Cosmetologist and Esthetician at Cosmetic Skin and Homeo Clinic in Rajouri Gardens, New Delhi) and Dr. Shweta Mishra (Personal, Cosmetic and Esthetic a surgeon from the Sharva Clinic). in Pitampura and Rohini in New Delhi). Here’s what they recommend for achieving glowing, healthy skin next year.

Morning routine: Soft start

The morning routine is to protect and prepare the skin for the coming day.

Start with a gentle cleanser to remove overnight build-up without stripping skin of its natural oils. Dr. Karuna Malhotra emphasizes the importance of using cleansers that suit your skin type: “For oily skin, choose a gel-based cleanser with salicylic acid, while for those with dry skin, choose a moisturizing formula that contains glycerin or ceramides.’

Then apply a vitamin C serum to brighten the complexion and neutralize free radicals. “For optimal results, look for serums with a concentration of 10-20% L-ascorbic acid,” advises Dr. Shweta Mishra. She adds, “Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that not only brightens, but also boosts collagen production.”

Follow up with a light moisturizer and a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50. Dr. Malhotra recommended mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide for sensitive skin. “Sunscreen is non-negotiable, even when you’re indoors,” she stressed.

Evening Routine: Restore and Rejuvenate

“Evening is a time to restore and rejuvenate the skin,” said Dr. Shweta Mishra. Start with a double cleanse to remove makeup, sunscreen, and impurities. Start with an oil-based cleanser, followed by a water-based cleanser for a thorough cleanse.

Incorporate a retinol or retinaldehyde serum into your nighttime routine. “Retinoids remain the gold standard for anti-aging and anti-acne,” noted Dr. Mishra. She advises starting with a lower concentration if you’re new to retinoids and gradually increasing it as your skin develops a tolerance.

Moisturizing at night is also very important. “Use a moisturizer enriched with hyaluronic acid or niacinamide to lock in moisture and restore the skin’s barrier.”

Weekly additions: peels and masks

Exfoliation is crucial for removing dead skin cells and stimulating cell turnover. “In 2025, enzyme and polyhydroxy acid (PHA)-based exfoliants are gaining popularity due to their gentler action,” said Dr. Malhotra. Use them once or twice a week, depending on your skin’s tolerance.

Also incorporate moisturizing or cleansing masks into your weekly routine. Clay masks can help control excess oil, while sheet masks with ceramides or peptides can provide a boost of hydration.

Individual care and modern methods of treatment

Skin care in 2025 is all about personalization. “Invest in products that meet your skin’s unique needs,” said Dr. Malhotra. Consult a dermatologist or esthetician to better understand your skin and create a regimen that works for you.

Dr. Shweta Mishra noted the growing trend of combining skin care with modern treatments: “Treatments such as PRP microneedling, laser therapy and chemical peels can greatly enhance the effectiveness of your treatment. But it should always be done by qualified professionals.”

Lifestyle matters

Both experts agreed that skin care doesn’t stop at topical products. “A balanced diet rich in antioxidants, adequate hydration and regular exercise all contribute to glowing skin,” said Dr. Malhotra.

Dr. Mishra added, “Manage stress with mindfulness practices or yoga, as stress can show up on the skin in the form of acne or dullness.”

Skin care 2025 is a harmonious combination of proven principles and cutting-edge innovation. By following expert advice, you can get better skin. Remember, consistency is key and your skin deserves the time and care you put into it.

Also, patience is crucial; most skin care products take weeks to show visible results. “Do not hesitate to consult a specialist if you have any skin problems. Taking a holistic approach to skin care that includes both internal and external care will provide long-term benefits for the health and vitality of your skin,” concluded Dr. Shweta Mishra.
