Born to Indian immigrants in Cincinnati, Vivek Ramaswamy is soon set to join Donald Trump’s administration alongside billionaire Elon Musk to lead the newly proposed Department of Government Efficiency. This is great news not only for the 39-year-old entrepreneur, but also very inspiring for many Indian immigrants in the US.

The love story of Vivek and Apoorva Ramaswamy

Apoorva Ramaswami, wife Presidential candidate from the Republican Party Vivek Ramaswamy recently revealed how the two met. Vivek posted a video on X, formally Twitter, in which Apoorva can be heard telling their love story to a small audience while campaigning in Iowa.
Vivek, who was standing next to her and participating in the conversation, captioned the video, “Voters in Iowa want to know the story of how Apurva and I met. That’s how.”
In the video, Apoorva explains, “I was in the first medical school and Vivek was in law school there. It was probably the last party I went to.’ She noticed Vivek as “the most interesting person in the room” and decided to approach him. “So I went over and introduced myself to him,” she said.
The crowd laughed as Apoorva shared that her date didn’t go as planned. “When Vivek introduced himself, I unfortunately told him that I had met another Vivek in medical school,” she recalls, adding with humor, “He didn’t seem that interested. In fact, he just walked away.’
Despite the awkward start, the evening didn’t end there for the pair. Later that night, they ran into each other again and quickly discovered that they had a lot in common, including being neighbors. “We realized how much we have in common, how much we have in common, and that we are neighbors,” Apoorva said. “(And) Here we are, we’ve been together ever since.”

Vivek, standing by her side during the conversation, reflected on the importance of marriage, a lesson he learned from his parents. “Who you marry is important,” he said, adding that he and Apurva are trying to pass this value on to their two sons.
He also shared his thoughts on his humble upbringing. “None of us grew up with economic privilege,” Vivek clarified. “However, we were very blessed to have two parents at home who instilled in us a strong emphasis on education and faith in God.”
Vivek went on to discuss their current goals as parents, saying, “We’re trying to give our two sons the same upbringing now in Ohio. But I see no reason why every child in this country should not at least be able to enjoy that privilege as well.” He emphasized that this philosophy is central to the values they hope to promote when they reach the White House. “I think that’s part of the example we want to set as a White House family.”
Reflecting on their journey together, Vivek emphasized the importance of shared values in their relationship. “Our relationship has always been built on mutual respect and common goals,” he said. “We both come from families that valued education and faith, and that’s something we’ve carried forward in our lives.”
Apoorva added that their bond has only grown stronger. “We’ve always had each other’s back, and that’s what made our partnership so strong,” she said.
