Cognitive skills, such as problem -solving and thinking, usually develop in childhood, peak in the twenties and begin to decline in the thirties. However, in reality, this is not true.

A study published in science has turned this overall narrative, showing that literacy and literacy skills do not begin to decline in the thirties and, in fact, can continue to improve in the forties. After that, let them be a plateau or a decrease depend on the person.

What the study found

The researchers have conducted an experiment on German adults for more than 3.5 years. The study followed the same people to get an accurate assessment of aging on cognitive skills.

This is what the conclusions have discovered:

  • Cognitive skills are not reduced in the 30s, but continue to improve at least 40.
  • Message 40, literacy skills remain stable, but the numbers are slightly submitted. But still depends on the person to the person.
  • Those who are actively engaged in reading and mathematical tasks do not see any reduction in these cognitive skills. They continue to improve in the 1950s and see almost any reduction of even up to 65 years.
