2025 Met Gala came and left, and while the topic “Superfine: Thiping Black Style” had the potential to become one of the most visually and intellectually stimulating years, the performance left much to be desired. Let us be honest: the red track this year was overcome. Somewhere between the lack of risk and the shocking wrong interpretation of the topic, most guests played too safely or too strange.

However, Met Gala remains the biggest fashion night, and even if the fashion lacks, tendencies tend to follow. So, here are the three key directions that we noticed on the carpet – bold, shiny and just surprised. Will they form the next season? Probably. Shall they? This is for the discussion.
No pants
Once a cheeky support of decency, “underwear as outerwear” became the most lazy form of a fashion rebellion. This year, Met Carpet did not feel the lack of inspired linen, but few offered something close to elegance or relevance.
The most contradictory at night? Lisa Blackpinka, which put on embroidered bodysuits that reflected black historical figures, including what many on the Internet identified as the Parks. The reaction was fast. “Rose of Parks Lingerie” was held in social media in minutes. And while fans claim that an apology was issued, such a public statement was not made. Let it be a mistaken tribute or just a deaf decision, the appearance could not fulfill the moment or theme. Sabrin Platnitsky was not lagging behind. Following the aesthetics of the excursion, she wore what was reminiscent of a brown bathing suit with a everyday jacket, thrown at it. If there was a message, it did not land. If not, why wear it in Met? Similarly, the model Amelia Gray accepted her full red lace ensemble too far – lace bodysuits on the top of the visible lace short in pairs with… the enemy?

The essence? Wearing underwear outside is just a statement when it says something. Otherwise it’s just … underwear.
Poufeter cape
Now it was an unexpected hit. Poufery outerwear has been floating around the space of high fashion for many years, but the presence of splashes and poncho at this year’s solemn solemn proven that it can be cozy if it is right. Serena Williams, Nessa Diab and ALICIA KEYS leaned in the form of dust, and the results were glorious. The drama about the wide outline paired with the cultural mass of street clothing was the perfect marriage of Dandism and modern black style. In particular, the Ponchi Poncho KiS brought a cool New York region, which felt both personal and thematic.

Unlike some other trends of the night, the Cape felt intentionally. It nodded useful, history and bold fashion. It wears it, it is an editorial board, and it will probably remain here.
Lift the headdress
Forget about your clutch, this year the accessory was wearing a statement. The main clothes stole the show in each apparent form: bead beads, oversized hats, sculptural cells. Be cultural, camp or fashion, the stars went on their heads.
Alicia Keys wore a stunning red beads of Moncler’s headdress, which corresponded to her twisted power suit – a moment of real cohesion. Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Jodi Turner-Smith chose wide hats that secured their appearance with visual weight. Of course, there were several stalls from Tayan Taylor, who athle the one who felt rooted in authenticity. And then there was Wendy Dan Merdak, who wore what could only be called a metal cell for the crown. Avangard or inappropriate? This is for fashion scientists for discussion. TAKE? The head is no longer just an accessory – it’s a moment.

This year, Gala Met Gala may not be surprised, but it definitely waved a few flags for the upcoming fashion movements. The danger, however, is to confuse the repetitive motive for a significant one. Just because it was noticed does not mean that it was successful, and of course it does not mean that it should be repeated.
