“Excess sugar in your diet causes a process called glyking when sugar molecules adhere to collagen and elastin proteins, making your skin hard, dim and prone to wrinkles. Sweet today, chasing tomorrow!” D -ost Asta wrote in the signature. She continued to explain in the message exactly how sugar affects skin health.

Understanding glycation: Hidden skin aggressor

If you consume excess sugar, it binds to proteins such as collagen and elastin through a process called glycation. This weakens these necessary proteins, leaving the skin hard, tender and more prone to wrinkles.

As sugar affects collagen and elastin

Glycation damages collagen (maintaining hardness) and elastin (which provides elasticity). The result is the sagging of the skin, stupidity and deeper wrinkles.

The role of inflammation in the aging of the skin

High intake of sugar contributes to inflammation, which accelerates skin aging and promotes redness, breakthrough and uneven tone.

Sugar and sensitivity to the damage of the sun

A diet rich in sugar can increase your skin vulnerability to UV rays, leading to pigmentation, dark spots and loss of natural radiance.

Steps to protect your skin

  • Eat, rich antioxidant food (berries, nuts, greens)
  • Drink a lot of water
  • Use sunscreen regularly
  • Replace the refined sugar with complex carbohydrates
