In an interview, Nimra revealed her unconventional diet plan, saying, “To lose weight, you first need to set clear goals.” She said that her diet consisted only of egg whites, apples, green tea and vegetable juices, completely avoiding carbohydrates. She explained: “I had an apple every three hours and green tea every two hours. This procedure was repeated morning, afternoon and evening for seven days.’

Are crash diets the right way to lose weight?

Although the Nimra method can provide quick results, it is important to consider whether it is a sustainable or healthy approach to weight management. Lina Martin, Chief Dietitian at Holy Family Hospital, shared her views with HT Lifestyle: “Such crash diets often lead to significant water weight loss rather than fat reduction. They can lead to side effects such as hormonal imbalance, shedding hair loss, skin problems, and nutrient deficiencies, most likely the lost weight will quickly return once carbohydrates are reintroduced, which makes it difficult to maintain results over time.”

She added: “For healthier and longer-lasting results, focus on a balanced diet that includes all food groups, regular exercise and gradual lifestyle changes. Extreme diets should be avoided unless supervised by a healthcare professional or nutritionist for safety reasons. Risks crash diets include poor nutrition, hormonal changes, gallstones and even mood swings.”

“It’s not about turning yourself into a bikini model. It’s about reducing your risk of heart disease, protecting your kidneys and keeping yourself healthy,” says Lina.
