Samantha Ruth Prabhu is undoubtedly one of the most influential personalities in the Indian entertainment industry, known not only for her excellent acting skills but also for her stunning beauty and impeccable fashion sense. Over the years, she has carved a niche for herself as a trendsetter, inspiring millions with her bold choices both on and off screen. Be it her powerful performance in films or her effortlessly chic style, Samantha is a constant eye-catcher. However, apart from her professional success, her candid and relatable personality, especially on social media, made her even more influential, and her opinions and advice resonated deeply with her fans. One such piece of advice she shared about tattoos a few years ago left her followers curious and surprised.

Back in 2022, Samantha Ruth Prabhu made a bold tattoo statement that caught the attention of her fans. During an Instagram Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, a fan asked the actress about tattoo ideas she might consider in the future. Samantha responded with a smile that surprised many. In a candid video, she said: “You know, I would have told my younger self to never get a tattoo. never. Never ever. Someday, get a tattoo.” Although she smiled throughout the video, her message was clear: tattoos, in her experience, were not something she would recommend. The strong words were a throwback to how she now feels about inking that she did in the past.

Despite her current attitude towards tattoos, Samantha has three on her body. One of them is YMC’s back tattoo depicting the title of her first film Ye Maaya Chesave released in 2010. This film, which also starred her then husband Naga Chaitanya, was a milestone in her career and marked the beginning of their relationship. The second tattoo is on her right side, near her ribs, with the word “Chay” written in cursive. This tattoo is a tribute to Naga Chaitanya’s nickname, a personal gesture that was meaningful during their marriage. A third tattoo is on her right wrist with a symbol of two arrows pointing upwards, a design that was similar to the one Naga Chaitanya also had on his wrist.
However, life took a different turn for Samantha and Naga Chaitanya in 2021 when they announced their divorce after almost four years of marriage. The couple released a joint statement saying, “After much thought and consideration, Chai and I have decided to separate as husband and wife to go our separate ways.” They emphasized their longtime friendship, which was the foundation of their relationship, and asked for privacy as they move forward. Samantha’s tattoos, especially the ones with personal meaning associated with Naga Chaitanya, became a reminder of a chapter in her life that has since closed.
Looking back, it seems Samantha has reconsidered her decision to get tattoos with time and experience. While her advice to her younger self may come from her personal experiences and the changes she’s gone through, it’s clear that she’s grown from them. Now she openly advises others to be careful when it comes to permanent decisions like tattoos. In her case, what once seemed like a beautiful expression of love and career achievement turned into a lesson learned.
