The story of Christmas

The Bible does not clearly mention the birth date of Jesus Christ. There is no specific date or month. It’s very vague. This shows that the early Christians did not celebrate Christmas and his death and resurrection (Easter). The Bible, as a theological work, is more focused on teaching. However, it was not until centuries later that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ was officially established on December 25. But this was not done through any direct biblical reference, but rather to coincide with the Roman celebration of the winter solstice.

Ancient Rome had a different calendar then, so the winter solstice fell on December 25. On this day, the Romans celebrated the birthday of the invincible sun (the birthday of the Invincible Sun), which marks the end of winter and the rebirth of the sun. This day is special because after the winter solstice the days begin to lengthen, marking the “rebirth” of the sun. Early Christians may have chosen December 25 to correspond with this festival of light and the “rebirth” of the sun, cleverly symbolizing Jesus as the “light of the world.” Jesus Christ in the Gospel of John 8:12 called himself the light of the world.

The meaning of Christmas

From celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ to spending time with family, exchanging gifts and cooking together, the Christmas spirit is contagious and enthusiastic. It is also a day to reflect on and celebrate the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christmas is a holiday that is widely celebrated in many cultures and around the world.
