Kerry Johnson spends almost a week in the hospital with pneumonia and the flu

Kerry Johnson spent nearly a week in the hospital with the flu and pneumonia after struggling to breathe due to a chest infection, she revealed in an Instagram post. The wife of former prime minister Boris Johnson said in a post on Saturday that she was still not recovered and “it could be a few more weeks before I feel myself again”. In the post, she praised NHS nurses and doctors as “the best people on earth” and added that her “strongest advice” was for people to get a flu shot. Mrs Johnson posted a photo on Instagram showing the end of the hospital bed, along with a picture of her son Wilf’s “favorite toy Grinny” and her daughter Romy’s princess keyring, which she said they gave her to take to the hospital. She said: “I didn’t expect to spend the first week of 2025 in hospital. “After having a nasty chest infection for almost 18 days at home over Christmas, it just got out of control and I was struggling to breathe properly. “The hospital confirmed that I have flu and pneumonia. “I was there for almost a week and still haven’t recovered. It may be a few more weeks before I feel myself again. “Reason for this post: 1) NHS doctors and nurses are the best people on earth. I say this often, but they took care of me and my family when we needed it most, and I will never be more than grateful. “They are absolutely better than us. I’ve been to John Radcliffe and can’t thank them enough. “When I was particularly short, one nurse even serenaded me at my bedside. Unbelievable kindness. “2) Of course, check with your doctor, but my strong advice is to get a blood flu shot. I really, really wish I was. “This year, I’m completely out of my mind. There’s no guarantee, but maybe I wouldn’t have spent the last 3 weeks horribly, horribly sick if I had gotten it.’ She finished with an explanation about the dinosaur and princess keychain and added: “Health and family is everything.” While Prime Minister, Mr Johnson became seriously ill with Covid-19 in April 2020 and spent time in intensive care. The couple’s son was born later that month and was named Wilfred Lowry Nicholas Johnson, in part after the two doctors, Nick Hart and Nick Price, who helped save Mr Johnson’s life while he was in hospital.
