Shankha, also called a conch, is a symbol of purity, victory and new beginnings. It is said that Lord Vishnu holds the most powerful and divine conch shell in the entire universe, the Panchjanya, and one strike of it can change the course of the entire universe. He can cleanse the universe, destroy all evil and even start a new era. Today, before any important rituals or days, people blow into the conch shell during prayers to purify the surroundings, invoke divine blessings and ward off negativity with the transmitted vibrations.
