In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr. Gopal Ramdas Tak, Consultant Urologist, Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology, Hyderabad said: “UTIs are infections that affect any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureter, bladder or urethra. While these infections are usually associated with women, men are not immune and their risks are increased. In men, UTIs are often associated with complications such as prostate problems, kidney stones or sexual activity.’

Poor hydration:
Many men, especially those with demanding jobs or living in dynamic environments, tend to overlook the importance of drinking enough water. Dehydration can lead to concentrated urine, which irritates the bladder and promotes bacterial growth.

Poor work-life balance:
Men, especially in high-pressure jobs, often neglect their health and struggle to balance work and personal life. This neglect can lead to poor eating habits, insufficient sleep, and a weakened immune system, all of which increase vulnerability to UTIs.
Ignorance of proper hygiene:

The urologist went on to explain prevention tips to stay safe: “UTI prevention involves adopting a healthier lifestyle, staying hydrated, managing stress and practicing good hygiene.” The doctor also advised men to pay more attention to their health and recognize the signs in time to seek help in time.
