More than 1.5 years after their wedding, Indian cricketer KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty surprised their fans and well-wishers by announcing their pregnancy. The famous couple took to social media, where they posted a special photo with the text, “Our wonderful blessing is coming soon. 2025″. In just a few hours, the post went viral on the internet and many celebrities including Krishna Shroff, Shibani Akhtar and others congratulated the couple.
K.L. Rahul and Athiya’s love story
For the uninitiated, Athiya Shetty is the daughter of Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and his wife Mana. Cricketer KL Rahul and his actress wife Athiya Shetty met through a mutual friend at a party in February 2019 and hit it off instantly. However, they kept their relationship under wraps for quite some time until Athiya’s friend, designer Vikram Phadnis, took to social media to share the news. Vikram teased Athiya on Twitter in 2019, saying, “You seem very excited and agitated these days ??? Let’s go to KL ??? ….. Kuala Lumpur (sic),” he wrote. In response, Atiya tweeted: “TIME to block you!”.
In December 2019, the duo traveled to Thailand together for New Year’s and made their first social media post together. Although they also wished each other happy birthdays on social media, they refrained from posting or saying things about each other in public. It was in 2021 when KL Rahul made their relationship Insta-official by posting a picture of them together and wished Athiya a happy birthday. Atiya has also started accompanying the cricketer on his tours, further hinting that their bond is growing stronger. Finally, after years of dating and living together, the couple tied the knot in January 2023, and now they’re ready to become parents!
