Dev Uthani’s recommended time to break the fast
The ideal time to break Ekadashi is the time of Pratahkal, the early hours of the morning, as this is considered the most auspicious time. It is recommended to avoid breaking the fast during Madhyana (noon), as this period is considered less auspicious in Hindu tradition.
Also, one should refrain from cooking during Hari Vasara, the first quarter of dvadashi tithi. For the best spiritual benefit, it is recommended to wait until the Hari Vasara period is over before breaking the fast, as this ensures the integrity of the fast and brings maximum blessings.
Meaning of Dev Uthani Ekadashi 2024
The term Prabodhini means awakening and Ekadashi refers to the eleventh day of the lunar cycle. Lord Vishnu, who was in a meditative sleep during the rainy season, is believed to wake up to bless his devotees on this day. As a result, the day is celebrated with great reverence and joy, especially among the followers of Vaishnavism.
This day is also known as Dev Uthani Ekadashi, symbolizing the awakening of the gods. According to Hindu scriptures, the awakening of Lord Vishnu marks the beginning of spiritual awakening for his devotees as well.
Dev Uthani Ekadashi 2024 Rituals
One of the key aspects of Dev Uthani Ekadashi is the fast (or gate) observed by the devotees. Fasting usually begins at sunset the day before Ekadashi and continues until the morning of the next day. Parana, or breaking the fast, is an important part of the observance, but must be performed at the proper time.
Traditionally, the Parana is performed after sunrise on the day after Ekadashi, but it must be completed on the twelfth lunar day (the twelfth lunar day). If the dvadashi tithi ends before sunrise, the parana should be done as early as possible on the next day. Breaking the fast after the end of the dwadashi period is considered an offence.
