The legend of Ekadashi’s apparatus focuses around the noble king, nicknamed Mahidva, who was good and virtuous. His enviable younger brother Wajrada killed him and buried his body under a pipping tree in a thick forest. As a result of his untimely death, the soul of Mahid became a restless spirit, pursuing the territory and disturbing those passing by.
One day, the wise wise man came across a tortured soul. Hearing the tragic story of the king, the sage decided to help him. He noticed that Ekadashi’s Aparri with devotion quickly and, at the wet, offered the spiritual merit of his soul Mahid. This dedicated act helped the ghost find peace and achieve a moksh.

Ekadashi’s appar is noted throughout India under different names, such as “Bhadraki Ekadashi” in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Harian, where the goddesses are worshiped. In Odysha he is called “Jalakrida ekadashi” and is dedicated to Lord Jogan.
