Avoid doing these exercises at the gym now!

In a clip shared on The Ranveer Show Podcast’s Instagram page, captioned ‘Dr. Venkatesh on what exercises you should avoid at the gym?’, Ranveer asks Dr. Mouva what exercises he would recommend gym-goers avoid as an orthopedic doctor . He suggested three exercises that are very popular among gym goers looking to get fit, lose weight or stay healthy. According to him, you should not perform overhead exercises, deadlifts and crunches.

Dr. Mowva stated in the clip: “Overhead, heavy [exercise]. I mean, you can stretch, but no military press, number one. Crisp number two; avoid them. Number three, the deadlift. (sic)” To this Ranveer replied, “So I would replace the military press because it is for front delts only for front raises.” As an alternative, Dr. Movwa suggested that people “lean over” during such exercises. “You can go, bend down, lift up [weights]not overhead (sic),” he said.

While Ranveer, a fitness enthusiast himself, said he would replace croutons with planks, Dr Movva suggested ‘planks and bridges’.

And finally, why you should avoid deadlifts, an exercise you’ve probably seen many celebrities doing at the gym and fitness influencers pushing their followers to include in their routines, the orthopedic doctor said: “ I see more injuries than benefits from deadlifting. If you are really fit and have good muscle balance, go for it. But if you’re trying to get better, it’s something to avoid. Because the risk of getting injured is very high. There are so many other exercises that you can compensate for without doing these things.”
