Thailand started the construction of a high -speed railway network in 2017 as part of the Chinese government’s belt and road initiative, according to the project website. The Thai government is responsible for all investments in the project, construction of civilian work and the use of Chinese construction technology and rail systems.

It is expected that the first stage of the project, which is estimated, 179 billion BAT will start working in 2027.
