Have you bought that toy your child wants this holiday season? A recent study led by Talker Research claims that it helps them communicate better and be happier. According to the study, early childhood play activities play a significant role in social development. Games with toys and dolls of the child’s choice help them communicate more. This further leads to stronger friendship building skills.

Research results:

The study was conducted with information from 2,000 American parents of school-aged children. 69% of parents said their children like to play with dolls or figurines. It also suggests that human toys can build children’s social development skills and help them make friends.

Are dolls important?

36% of participants said that dolls create unforgettable experiences for their children with friends. 34% of parents agreed that dolls promote friendships and start conversations between children. However, 60% of parents expressed concern about today’s methods of pressure and success, which can hinder a child’s early development.

Dr. Cheryl Ziegler, a clinical psychologist and play therapist, said in a statement: “For children, vacation is a game and it is an important time for their self-development. Being able to play and change colors helps children navigate their world and sense of self, so the more parents can introduce the colors of the rainbow into the gift season, the better they can help their children become more confident and social.”
