Dr. Radzhev Macht, Deputy Chairman of Psychiatry at the Sir Gangarama Hospital, shared with HT Lifestyle, some tips on how to stay calm as well as during the date:

Before you go for a date

1. Prepare in advance. Plan your outfit, gift, venue, transport, etc.

2. Practice relaxation activities such as deep breathing, meditation or yoga, etc. By doing this before the date, you can calm your nerves. Even otherwise, these soothing rituals may include in your usual mode.

3. Focus on the event, not the result. Go as if you are interested in learning about a person and enjoying experience, not emphasizing it. One date does not usually determine the relationship.

4. Listening to music or conversations with an experienced friend can help you relax. Anxiety is to worry about the future, how everything will work out and what can go wrong. Removing the mind about the results helps to ground and stay now.

5. If you have been prescribed medication for antihyperture mental health, accepting how to advise can help you remain calm and modern.

2. Be yourself. Being real even on a date goes a long way. Do not act just to please. On a date, because, in fact, your anxiety is also reduced.
