You certainly know how old you are physiologically. But have you ever asked yourself how old you “feel” on the inside?
Spirituality is subjective. You can be a person who actively participates in rituals and a complete believer – on the other hand, you may think that it is all nonsense and want to keep the self-help catalogs at bay. Whether the word “spiritual” excites you or makes you anxious, it’s a useful tidbit you’ll definitely want to get to know. So what does spiritual age really mean?
Even for people who don’t like the whole 9 yards of consistent self-improvement, you have some point of awareness of who you are inside. It’s a lot like trying to answer the question, “are you a happy person with sad moments or a sad person with happy moments?”. No matter what stage of your life – or even today! — gives the impression that you know what the right answer is for you when it comes to seeing the big picture. Likewise, even if you haven’t thought about it intensely, you will be able to pinpoint the eras when, for better or for worse, you began to blossom into your true self, your core self. Now, stepping into true spiritual territory, you may also be able to intuitively appreciate the epochs that are yet to come, but which you deeply feel may prove to be defining in your life.
Now close your eyes and think. Did the number pop into your head? The next thing to do is to remember the age in question and try to understand what and why it might be very important to you. Interestingly, you don’t have to have just one spiritual age, you can have several—and they’re far apart, too! There are no rules to this except to be completely authentic with yourself when you decide to sit down and introspect. Your spiritual age can also grow with you, physically and emotionally, or it can remain static for years or forever.
