Good mood has the strength to lift each other’s mood and keep stress in fear. This study also shows why it is important for old couples.
Good mood is contagious when a terrible laughter and a simple smile can lead to instant joy. In the wedding oaths “what your” is often heard, promising to stand with each other in difficult times. This is not all gloomy, because the idea of ”what is your” is also spreading to happiness.

A study published in PsychoneuroeDocrinology has shown that if one partner is in good mood, it may have a direct effect on the reduction of stress levels in another.
Your happiness reduces your partner’s stress

The study was conducted on old couples, so this connection was established in long -term partners. They were between 56 and 87 years old.
According to the findings, when one partner is happy and cheerful, it reduces cortisol of another, also known as the stress hormone. The mood was raised, even if the partner initially did not feel great. This means that positive emotions in the relationship can be a “buffer” against stress, helping people feel more peaceful.
On the contrary, unlike good mood, bad mood may not affect stress. Although good mood reduces stress, bad mood does not necessarily spread to the partner and increases stress.
Why spreading a positive mood is important with age
The study was focused on old couples, which were at least an average of 44 years. According to researchers. This is important because, as people grow old, they often believe that the mood regulation is difficult. With age, the level of cortisol associated with stress takes much longer to come back to normal. The brains of aging are not effectively adapting to stress as before. Along with the low adaptability of stress, chronic pain, decreased mobility and social insulation can cause emotional suffering in the elderly adults. Thus, the presence of a committed and positive partner helps to cope with these common problems of old age.
