Although interfaith marriages in India have been around for centuries, they still surprise people. And when it’s a celebrity getting married in an interfaith marriage, the news makes headlines. For example, actress Sonakshi Sinha got married to Zaheer Iqbal earlier this year and it is still in the news. Most recently, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna sparked a controversy by commenting on Sonakshi and her parents as the actress married a Muslim man. However, Sonakshi and her father Shatrughan Sinha hit back at him, ending the argument. While Sonakshi politely asked Mukesh Khanna not to comment on her upbringing, her father Shatrughan said that his daughter does not need anyone’s ID to prove that she is a Hindu.
