The study advocated the need to promote gender equality as men with traditional gender roles, abusing women.
Traditional gender roles, defined by patriarchy, prescribe men and women very rigid, waterproof responsibilities. Men are considered as nursing and dominant suppliers, while women are expected to be obedient, submissive and responsible for help. This leaves no place for gender equality because women are not considered equal. Faith in them may have dangerous results in relationships.

A study published in PLOS ONE has shown that men in California who have more traditional, less gender-equal views are much more likely to commit an intimate partner (IPV).
Traditional gender roles and violence with an intimate partner

When a partner causes physical or sexual damage, it is called an intimate violence of a partner (IPV). The study was conducted in California and included 3 609 men with an average age of 48 years. Participants were made statements such as “men make better political leaders than women” with whom they had to agree or disagree. Their answers reflected their true beliefs about gender equality.
The results of the poll were shocking because men who had traditional gender beliefs were twice as much as a partner’s violence. According to the findings, based on the poll, 1 in each 50 men in California confessed to the violence last year, which is more than 280,000 men.
The study showed a significant connection between traditional beliefs and violence partners.
Researchers emphasized that the promotion of gender equality is the need for an hour. They recommended prevention programs focused on the propaganda of gender equality, especially among boys and men.
Other factors that lead to IPv
While traditional gender beliefs remained strong, there are several other risk factors such as weapons possession, mental health and drug use that made men commit a partner’s violence.
These conclusions additionally indicate the need for holistic and comprehensive prevention efforts, which focus not only on harmful gender beliefs, but also a broader range of risk -related risk factors.
