When the symptoms go beyond the bite, including fever, body pain, nausea, vomiting or fatigue, the problem is more serious. These signs can indicate the diseases that are transmitted by mosquitoes such as dengun, chikungunya, malaria, Zika or West Nile virus. For example, dengue usually has a high fever, suddenly with joint pain and muscles and skin rashes from four to ten days after the bite. Malaria usually leads to fever and chills, while the West Nile virus, although rare, may include the brain and the nervous system. It is important to get medical attention when you have any of these symptoms, especially after traveling to the regions where such diseases are endemic.
