Kiara Advani recently made a splash at the teaser launch of her upcoming film Game Changer in Lucknow, but her take on designer Rohit Bal’s couture look created some controversy. The actress wore a beautiful rose-embroidered dress from Bal’s latest collection, Kaaynat, but decided to skip a key element of the original design, the jacket, which drew some criticism from influencer Dieta Sabia.
The dress itself was a stunning piece with intricate rose and leaf embroidery, paired with a strapless neckline and whimsical ruching at the bust. Intricate embroidery on the skirt gave the dress a romantic, feminine vibe, with vertical floral patterns elongating her figure. However, Chiara’s decision to ditch the jacket, an essential part of the original look, was criticized by Diet Sabia, who noted that the ensemble felt “incomplete” without it.
The jacket in Kaaynat’s original look was a statement piece in itself, with vibrant floral and animal motifs that perfectly complemented the dress, adding depth, richness and a strong traditional flair. It was an integral part of the look’s grand appeal, reflecting the designer’s vision for his latest collection.
Diet Sabya took to Instagram to call out Kiara’s style choice, writing, “If you’re going to wear Rohit Bal, why don’t you wear the whole look? Especially if it’s from his last show???’ The influencer went on to express his frustration, saying, “Whoever is borrowing these Bal pieces would love to have a chat. I’d also like to talk to Chiara’s stylist about some fashion etiquette and unspoken rules that we just DON’T BREAK.’
Many felt that by ditching the jacket, Chiara’s outfit lost the full, regal majesty of the original design, and the look became more simplistic, resembling a regular dress rather than the fashion statement it was meant to be.
Despite this, Kiara accessorized the dress with desi accessories. She opted for a vibrant green kundan choker that added a pop of color against the white and red tones of the dress, and layered metallic bangles in silver and gold. Her hair was styled in voluminous windswept waves, while bright color and warm eyeshadow accentuated her eyes, giving her a bright, radiant look.
