Now this simple blood test may detect the beginning of Alzheimer

In most people with Alzheimer’s disease, clinical symptoms appear in later life. A key sign of the disease is to increase amyloid plaques in the brain. They can be detected with the help of amyloid PET -improvement, often years before the onset of symptoms. However, pet-scanning is expensive, time-consuming and radiation. That’s where a new blood test goes.

Checking Lumipulse G PTAU217/β-amyloid 1-42 measures two proteins, PTAU217 and β-amyloid 1-42 found in a person’s blood plasma. It calculates the ratio associated with the presence of amyloid plaques in the brain, and reduces the need for PET scan. Unlike the previous tests that require spinal crane to collect spinal fluid, this new test requires only simple blood information, making it less invasive and easier for patients.
