“Mr. Saif Ali Khan was admitted Lilavati Hospital at 2 a.m. with reports of an assault by an unknown person. He suffered severe injuries to the thoracic spinal cord by stabbing his spine. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the knife and fix the leak of cerebrospinal fluid. In addition, the plastic surgery team treated two deep wounds on the left arm and one on the neck. I am happy to confirm that Mr. Saif Ali Khan is now fully stable, recovering well and out of danger,” Dr. Nitin Dange, Neurosurgeon, Lilavati Hospital, told news agency PTI about actor Saif Ali Khan’s condition.

The spine contains the spinal cord, which is an important part of the body responsible for transmitting messages from the brain to the rest of the body. Injury to the spinal cord can result in paralysis, numbness, or permanent It can also cause damage to some of the major blood vessels and nerves around the spine, which can lead to to nerve damage or fatal bleeding,” explained Dr Akhilesh Yadav, Deputy Director of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement at Max Super Specialty Hospital Vaishali.
A spinal cord injury can result in partial or complete paralysis below the injury site. Even a minor injury to the spinal cord or surrounding nerves can cause chronic pain, weakness, or loss of sensation. In severe cases, the injury can disrupt important body functions, including bladder or bowel control. The risk of infection is high, as deep stab wounds can introduce bacteria into the tissue or even into the spinal canal. Large blood vessels near the spine, such as the aorta, may also be affected. When punctured, these vessels can cause life-threatening internal bleeding.

Fortunately, his team released a statement saying that the actor is on the mend. “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently on the mend and doctors are monitoring his progress.
