They are sensitive to summer thermal rash and irritation. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, D -Rihi Shah, Senior Children’s Dermatology Consultant at Narayana Health SRCC children’s hospital in Mumbai, shared skin care items for children.
Why do babies need special care in the summer?

First of all, let’s try to understand why babies need special care in the summer with good skin care.
Dr. Shah said: “Children have soft and sensitive skin that is much more delicate than adults. In fact, baby skin can lose moisture five times faster than adults.”

Because the baby’s skin is still developing and not completely mature, it may lack the necessary barrier, and, according to Dr. Shah, moisture resistance. This moisture loss in the summer can lead to serious skin problems.
Summer skin care tips for babies

From rethinking traditional oil massages to a bath time, Dr. Shah shared an important skin care management to help parents easily navigate the summer season:
1. Avoid oil massage
The sweaty glands of the children are not fully developed. Oil masks can block sweat and contribute to prickly thermal rashes. A gentle massage using a lightweight, unhappy baby oil that has no harmful chemicals can be safe and enjoyable for your baby. Massion should be slightly in the direction of the hair follicles to avoid inflammation or infection, a condition called the follicle.
2. Tips for Bath for Hot Week
Bull your baby once a day as needed. Use warm water. Avoid napkins when possible, as they usually have preservatives, even water napkins. Limit baths up to 5-10 minutes to avoid skin damage.
3. Moisturizing
After bathing, gently stroke the baby’s skin, not rubbing. Preferably for three minutes, apply a non-camera moisturizing lotion to fix moisture and prevent dryness. Remember that moisturizing is important even in the summer.
4. Choosing the right clothes on the summer
Baby skin is not only thinner and more delicate, but also less effective when regulating the temperature. This makes breathable clothes a mandatory summer.
- Choose natural fabrics as cotton.
- Look for soft, smooth textures.
- Avoid reassessment; Lightweight, single -layer outfits are best.
- Limit dense or synthetic clothing that can irritate.

Babies up to six months should be completely avoided direct sunlight. Elderly children should remain in the shade, especially from 11am to 4pm when the sun on its own. Use an umbrella or admiration on the strollers rather than cover them with a blanket, which can cause overheating.

6. The atmosphere
Keep your baby indoors and are well spent between 11am to 16pm. Based on how moist it is, choose between fans, conditioners and desert cooles.
Hydration tips
Hydration is great for your baby’s overall health, but the benefits cannot automatically spread to the skin. Hydration of the skin is best achieved soaking the baby’s neck in a bath or bucket filled with warm water and instant moisture.
