In 2013, a group of researchers of the Karolinskaya Institute showed that new neurons could be formed in the hippocampus of adults. In order to confirm this, they measured carbon-14 levels into DNA from brain tissue. However, it was still discussed because of the lack of obvious evidence that the cells preceded by the new neurons, known as neuronne cells, actually exist and divide into adults.“Now we have managed to determine these cells of origin, which confirms that the hippocampus in the hippocampus has a constant formation of neurons,” said Jonas Friesen, a professor of stem cell research at the Department of Cells and Molecular Biology, the Caroling Institute that directed research. The new study, however, appealed to the help of advanced brain tissue methods from people between the ages of 0 and 78 from several international biobans.
