The art of M. F. Hussein | A modern master

TThe painting of the late M. F. Hussain’s (1915-2011) Tamare Salam (Satyajit Ray) (oil on canvas, 94.5 x 47.2 inches) is a wonderful example of one fine art master portraying another in his own unique style. Captioned “Hussain” in Bengali, the painting shows Rey moving in the middle, repeatedly showing the “lines of movement” in superhero comics. Ray does what he does best, instructing the cast and crew, bringing entire worlds to life before our eyes. “I am very grateful to him because through his films I got to know India with a very deep understanding,” reads the caption in the lower right corner.
