Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday said that the state government has decided to give 25 percent discount to Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) hotels to promote tourism in the winter season.

He also directed officials to strengthen security measures for tourists during winter travel in the hill state. He ordered the implementation of emergency response systems during bad weather and asked to ensure repair work on the roads.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to promote winter tourist destinations and other hidden places in the state. This came after CM Dhami held a meeting at the secretariat with government officials.

During the meeting, CM Dhami directed the officials to construct parking lots for vehicles on the journey route while preparing necessary infrastructure to increase the daily capacity of devotees at Chardham.

CM Dhami said that top priority is being given to the organization of health services, cleanliness and safe accommodation. Preparations for Chardham Yatra 2025 have also started so that pilgrims do not face any difficulties, he added.

The Uttarakhand state government has been making all possible efforts to promote winter tourism and pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand, the director of population management, Uttarakhand, said in a release earlier. As per CM Dhami’s instructions, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has made comprehensive preparations to ensure uninterrupted power supply at these locations, the release said.

A large number of tourists and pilgrims visit major places in the state like Mussoorie, Auli, Joshimath, Dhanalti, Haridwar and Rishikesh in winter. UPCL has issued instructions to regional units to ensure availability of all necessary resources in these areas, the release added.
