Veteran poet Javed Akhtar, Azhar Iqbal, singer-songwriter Pratik Kuhad are among the renowned artistes who will perform at the event supported by Uttar Pradesh Tourism.

‘HIND’, the Hindustani adaptation of ‘Fences’, directed by Feroze Abbas Khan and starring Sachin Khedekar, will hit the stage on December 20. This will be followed on December 21 by director Faiza Jalali’s Runaway Brides, a satirical exploration of societal stereotypes.

The festival will close its theater segment on December 22 with Akarsh Khurana’s play The F Word, which takes a humorous look at family relationships, it said.

Music lovers will be treated to performances by some of the country’s leading artists. Singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad will open the Mahol stage on December 19, followed by Thaikkudam Bridge, a band known for their fusion of rock, folk and classical, on December 20. On December 21, Karan Kanchan, known for his bright rhythms, and in the finale on December 22, the cult rock band Agnee will perform.

The festival can also boast a bright literary part. Renowned writers and poets like Javed Akhtar, Azhar Iqbal, Raghir, Priya Malik and Raman Negi will grace the Shabda stage, offering the audience an immersive experience through words and emotions. Comedy acts will add to the entertainment of the festival with performances by Gaurav Kapoor on December 20, Harsh Gujral on December 21 and Ravi Gupta on December 22.

In addition to the cultural appeal, the festival’s food bazaar will highlight the rich culinary traditions of Lucknow and offer local delicacies. The artisan bazaar will showcase traditional arts such as Chikankari and Zardozi along with modern handicrafts, giving visitors an opportunity to explore and appreciate local craftsmanship, it said.

The festival started in 2009 as a modest theater party. Tickets for the 12th edition to be held at Gate No. 6 of Janeshwar Mishra Park are available offline at Sahu Cinemas in Hazratganj and can also be booked through Bookmyshow, the organizers said.
