“Flaxseed is better than an egg”
Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, who often emphasizes the power of traditional Indian food and nutrition systems, principles of Ayurveda and sattvic diet in her videos, said in Hindi, “What do you need to do to lose weight? Drink more fluids and reduce solid food intake. For breakfast, around sunrise, you should eat nuts, as they give you a good amount of protein. Then there are pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds. In fact, flaxseed is better than an egg, so I’d say avoid the non-veg altogether.”
Talking about lunch, she said, “Have a glass of buttermilk. You can have dal with rice or opt for roti and sabzi. You can also add some salad to your lunch.’ Dr. Hansaji Yogendra added, “For an evening snack, eat a bowl of chana or mahana and drink a glass of lemon water. Have a big bowl of soup for dinner. If you feel hungry, add pieces of rice or roti to the soup and drink it. Vegetable soup is the best.”
