Problems in reproductive health over 35 years
In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr. Kamal Bhada, Obstetrician Consultant and Gynecologist at the Rubi Hall Puna, stressed-
- Birth Reduction: Women are born with a limited amount of eggs, and as they age as quantity and quality of eggs decrease. By the mid-30s fertility begins to decrease significantly, with a faster decrease after 40
- Increased risk of pregnancy complications: Women over 35 are faced with a higher risk of complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, preeclampsia and placental presentation. There is also a greater likelihood of miscarriage and premature birth.

- Genetic risks: The chances of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome increase with the mother’s age. Women over 35 are often advised to undergo genetic screening and counseling before conception.
- Hormonal changes: The perimenopause, which can begin at the end of the 30s or early 40s, affects the level of hormones, leading to improper ovulation and menstrual cycles, making conception more complicated.
- Basic health conditions: Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, thyroid disorders and diabetes can affect fertility and pregnancy.
Decisions and preventive measures
1. Counseling the previous end: Women who consider pregnancy should consult a healthcare provider for counseling. This helps evaluate the status of fertility, manage any existing health conditions and optimize overall health before conception.
2. Lifestyle modifications: Balanced nutrition, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, supports reproductive health. Regular exercise, stress management and smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can improve fertility.

3. Saving fertility: Women who want to delay pregnancy may consider options such as frozen eggs that keep the egg quality for further use (IVF).
4. Auxiliary Reproductive Technologies (Art): Treatment such as IVF, prenatal fertilization (III) and ovulation induction can help overcome birth problems. Expanded methods such as the genetic preliminary implant test (PGT) may also undergo inspection for genetic abnormalities before implantation.
5. Hormonal and medical procedures: Hormone therapy, ovulation stimulation and treatment for basic conditions such as PCOS or thyroid disorders can increase the potential of fertility.
6. Regular Health checks: Representative checks, including the testing of the ovarian reserve (AMG level), ultrasound scan and hormonal assessments, can give an idea of reproductive health and decision -making.
