Every year at Christmas, members of the British royal family have a tradition of gathering together at their Sandringham estate to celebrate the festive season. The Christmas tradition was started by the late Queen Elizabeth II, and this year it was continued by King Charles III. However, it is noted that King Charles III has not extended an invitation to his youngest son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan for the family’s Christmas celebrations this year. And so Prince Harry and Meghan celebrated Christmas with their children in their Montecito mansion in the suburbs of California.
While it may seem strange to many that King Charles III did not invite his own son to the family Christmas gathering, a report now suggests that instead the king “would love” to have them and meet his grandchildren. But he refrained from doing so, knowing that the family meeting with Harry and Meghan would not go smoothly.
A royal biographer said: “Back at Sandringham, it will be the traditional British Christmas style that Harry knows so well.” However, “King Charles would be delighted to see his grandchildren Archie and Lilibeth,” he explained, “but he knew Harry and Meghan’s invitation would be embarrassing for the rest of the family.” So there was no official invitation.”
Speaking about the British royal family’s Christmas traditions and plans, royal biographer Ingrid Seward told Mirror UK: “(The royal family has) the present opening on Christmas Eve with his (King Charles III) extended family and then at church and traditional Christmas dinner the next day. Then a Boxing Day pheasant shoot between lots of party games and booze.”

However, it is noted that Prince Harry and Meghan married in 2018, the same year the couple visited the royal family.Celebrating Christmas at Sandringham Estate for the last time. In 2020, Harry and Meghan announced that they had stepped down from their official royal duties, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex then moved to the United States. Since then, their relationship with Harry’s family (aka the British royal family) has only grown more strained over the years.
Commenting on this, Ingrid Seward went on to say: “Since marrying Meghan in 2018, Harry has only celebrated Christmas at Sandringham once, in December of that year. Instead, he adopted the “happy holidays” traditions favored by his adopted country. .. The only relative he has in California is his mother-in-law, Doria, and according to Megan, she was with them at their home in Montecito.
While the British royal family celebrates Christmas at their Sandringham estate, Prince Harry and Meghan are having a small, intimate celebration at their Montecito mansion. Harry and Meghan are celebrating the holiday season with their children, Archie and Lilybeth, and spending time together as a family.
